In the year of the fourth centennial of the Saikin Dynasty, an eclipse hung in the sky, blotting out daylight for three days. The mystics took it as a sign of great troubles to come and began to spread rumors of the impending Apocalypse. In the sweeping city of Iztal, the king barely held onto control in the wake of the people’s panic. Instead of acting to calm the citizens, he became withdrawn, testy. Those closest to him said even his personality changed. At last, he emerged, literally a changed man. Just like that, the peace which lasted centuries was torn apart. The king ripped apart the laws of the nation, creating anarchy where the local soldiers gave up trying to enforce the old ways. As the same time, creatures from the Outlands, terrifying enough to be called monsters, crept into the cities. They killed without mercy, just enough so that the public would dismiss them for homicides. The Kingdom of Elysia no longer had a single safe haven. And so, as the country is reshaped under the eyes of chaos, the fate of a world, hidden in the mystery of a ancient evil, falls into the hands of but a few. What has caused the king’s sudden change? What of the strange appearances of monsters? And what of the eclipse? Will the darkness come once again? Will Pandora, chaos incarnate, be the victor? |
